Reading on Grass

A safe and welcoming space in the mall where children and their families can step away from screens and immerse themselves in stories and crafts. Each session is hosted by the Sarawak Storytellers Association, inviting little readers to explore their imagination.

A Literacy Initiative for Every Child

Imagination grows when children are given the gift of reading. It sparks joy, builds confidence, and opens doors to new worlds. No child’s access to this gift should ever be limited.

In partnership with the Sarawak Storytellers Association and Perbena Emas Sdn Bhd, we are committed over the next 12 months to bridging this gap — making reading accessible to all children, including those from underprivileged communities in Kuching.

Join Us Every Second Saturday

Through their monthly sessions, the SSA encourages families to read together, sparks children’s imagination, strengthens language development, and deepens parent-child bonds. They also provide a nurturing platform for local storytellers to grow in confidence and craft, ensuring the diverse voices of Sarawak — rooted in culture and lived experiences — continue to inspire future generations.

Founded in 2024, the Sarawak Storytellers Association is a passionate community dedicated to preserving and celebrating Sarawak’s rich oral traditions. Their members have shared stories at events across Sarawak and even on international stages, always with a focus on picture books and engaging young audiences.
